Save money by allowing employees to use personally-owned tablets, phablets, and smartphones in the line of duty. Wheelchair van drivers and gurney van drivers, for example, do not fill out PCR reports, and therefore can perform all job functions from their personal smartphone. There is no need to provide them with a mobile device.

ASSUMPTIONS: Supervisors are always issued individual mobile devices, even if crew members are required to share devices between themselves. Mobile internet service costs $30 per month per device, with a 15% corporate discount for accounts with 10 or more devices. Device loss rates are figured at 1% per month when issued to individual employees, 2% when issued to vehicles (responsibility is diffused between multiple crew members), and 4% when shared among all crew members (easy to duck responsibility for losses). Tablet loss rates are three times that of toughbooks because although tablets are more fragile, toughbooks are stolen far more often. AngelTrack cloud server size is chosen according to the guidelines on the Pricing page. Supervisors who lose or damage their personal device are not reimbursed.

*Mobile devices must have GPS receivers and mobile/4G/LTE connectivity. All smartphones have those; for tablets, look at any of these:

**A cellular signal-booster, such as a weBoost, is not a hotspot, nor is it a wifi access point. Instead, it boosts the cellular signals of all mobile devices in the vehicle, on all carriers. It will help not just with AngelTrack connectivity, but also with regular voice calls to the dispatch office and to ERs. It will cost less than $1000/vehicle to install, and requires no subscription or maintenance. AngelTrack recommends every EMS and fire provider -- even those that operate in areas of good cellular coverage -- install a signal-booster in every company-owned vehicle.
